The company was established as a small business in 2005 by John B. McKeon, owner and principal. John has over 30 years of experience in Remote Sensing and GIS. He has a PhD in Geology from The Ohio State University where in the mid 1970's he was the first to map the glacial moraines of central Ohio by computer processing Landsat satellite imagery. He has worked with multispectral, hyperspectral, and radar images from satellite and aircraft platforms for the following employers: Bendix Aerospace, Environmental Research Institute of Michigan, Gulf Oil Research and Development, ARCO Oil and Gas, SPOT Image, ER Mapper, and Alto Technology Resources. For his entire career John has been involved in geospatial mapping, first as a research geologist, then in sales of satellite data and image processing software, and most recently in marketing of aerial imaging services.
Mainely Earth Images utilizes industry standard GIS and image processing software. Products are delivered as digital files or hard copy plots in a variety of formats and sizes.
Clients receiving geospatial products include: Town of South Bristol Comprehensive Plan, Damariscotta River Association, South Bristol Historical Society, and McFarland & Company Publishers.
